The lights that guide the ships home

Lighthouses of the world — a global database.

For centuries, lighthouses and major navigation lights have marked the edge between safe water and danger. This is a worldwide, openly-sourced database of lighthouses and major coastal lights — names, countries, regions, heights, light characters, coordinates, and direct links to Google Maps and Google Earth — built from real OpenStreetMap data and growing over time. Search by name or country, sort any column, and click a row for full detail.

Master worksheet

Every lighthouse on the map, searchable & sortable.

Click any column header to sort. Click a row to expand its detail panel with map, satellite and light-character information. Use the search box to filter by name, country or region, and the country menu to narrow to one country. This is a live reference drawn from open data — it grows as the map does.

Lighthouse data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). Pulled worldwide via the Overpass API (man_made=lighthouse, seamark:type=light_major). Names, heights, light characters and coordinates reflect community-maintained map data and may be incomplete.
